Littlepants
I've had an email from PayPal, telling me I need to update the PayPal module - something to do with Secure Sockets or something (I'm not very up on all the jargon) It says to go into the back office and get the module up, and just click 'Update" Go to PrestaShop back office in the list of modules installed Click on the « Update it » button next to PayPal modul Well Ive found the module, but there is no 'Update button. I'm running prestashop 1.5.4.1. Can anyone enlighten me how to do this update please. I've got to do it before December 3rd apparently. Thanks anyone who can help. paddockplants
Same here. Running Prestashop 1.6.0.9 with PayPal module version 3.7.2. No available update shown. Does it depend on what country you are in? We are UK based.

www.harryfay.co.uk
I'm in UK as well. See this thread. http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/380185-paypal-modification-ssl-v3-to-tls/?hl=%2Bpaypal&do=findComment&comment=1870918 We may need to update the module manually (ouch!). paddockplants
Yeah. Think I'll give it a few more days to see if an Update button appears on my installed 3.7.2 module. Not holding my breath, though. Edited November 18, 2014 by paddockplants (see edit history)
Littlepants
Stil no update button showing in my shop. Isn't it time Prestashop addressed this issue? Is any admin able to contact the higher powers and ask them to do this urgently?
www.harryfay.co.uk
I guess this means we all use not latest minor revisions of prestashop. I updated my test server to latest in 1.5 stream then the paypal module has been updated to 3.8 automatically. So I have two options - upgrade maintenance release of whole shop and fight regressions or manually upgrade the module by downloading it from addons site. I'm not really computer manipulating literate, and haven't a clue what all this means. I don't know what the 'test server' or '1.5 stream' is or means, and I haven't a clue what the last bit means. Sorry- I a duffer. Can anyone tell me, in plain English, exactly what I need to do please? I'd be every so grateful. Thanks
paddockplants
Well, if you're feeling up to it, this might be the answer. Pity Prestashop itself not on to the issue, though. http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/382224-upcoming-paypal-ssl-change-explained-fix/
www.harryfay.co.uk
In plain English: you either need to * upgrage your shop to latest version (1.5.6.2 if you are on Prestashop 1.5) or latest if you are on Prestashop 1.6. * manually download and upgrade paypal module from addons site * modify the code of module you have to use tls (as described in post I linked to earlier). That's not a good long term solution. In my opinion all of this operations should be done by someone who knows what he is doing. Upgrade can be run from back office, but things can go wrong and recovery may be hard. Also if you customized anything in the shop you may need to redo the customization. Manual update of the module *should* work from Back Office as well and it is safer, but things still can go wrong. Test server - if you run your shop you should have a second copy to try new things there. Such test server must not be accessible by customers - it's just for you to try things before you do them on your production server (the server for customers). If have few options, none of them is ideal, sorry. I guess the best way would be to pay someone who will take responsibility. Otherwise make a full backup (and make sure it is safe) and try to update the module.
