Guest
When people register for the newsletter via the block with just their email they require the activation email to confirm - however when they do so by ticking the box during registration the do not require the confirmation email. Is there any way to have confirmation required in both instances? (PS 1.6.x) Edited November 16, 2014 by Guest (see edit history)
Dh42
Not without a core modification, the reason being is that technically placing an order means that you are agreeing to receive emails from a site. It is a bit silly thinking, but you can auto check the box and use it to grow your list quite well. Another option might be to contact Presto-Changeo and ask them if their mailchimp module overrides that functionality.
Guest
Thanks for your help Dh42! Yeah it makes sense, however with the new Canadian Anti Spam Law (CASL) consent is required for us to send emails to Canadian customers and if they register but do not make an order then there is no way for me to get them to agree to the the terms compliant with the CASL. I thought maybe I could include the terms in the confirmation email but now I cannot even do that.
