DARKF3D3
I have a doubt regards field "visibility", on B.O. products page you can chose between: both, catalog, search and none. If i choose "none" the product will be no more visible on the website, but the page continue to be active. Practically the product page will be visible only through direct link, that's right? I'm asking it because i would like to hide discontinued products, but i don't want to disable the product page because i think that for SEO it's better to maintain the page online. Do you think that i can use "visibility" field to achieve this? Edited November 23, 2014 by DARKF3D3 (see edit history)
parsifal
If you change visibility to "none", then one must know the URL in order to access the product, as you correctly stated. I guess it's possible that completely disabling the product would have a negative impact on SEO. That's why I also change the visibility of discontinued products to "none" (or "search", if the product page contains meaningful support information like instructions, manuals, related downloads etc.). DARKF3D3
Good exaclty what I'm lookign for. I only notice a thing, the products it's still available in tag search result, so i think that if you want to completely hide it you have to remove all the tags from the product. parsifal
Yes, tags would be an indirect way of search, so you should remove them from hidden products if that's what you want.
