Any alternatives to Cart2Cart for migration?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I've got a bunch of sites in CS Cart which I need to migrate across to Presta. Seemed like Cart2Cart is the dominant player and so started with their service. The standard package migration did a very poor job so I wrote to them to ask what next. They said 10 hours of work (around $500) and I asked if it gets cheaper if I do multiple sites with them, but no.

So I bought the package on Oct 2 and its still not done. It takes them about a week each time they ask a question to look at it again. And I have had to point out the same issues on several occasions which then costs another week. Maybe its language difficulties, maybe they're busy.

I needed to get this done a month ago and I'm getting hammered at work for missing the deadline by so far because I'd said with 10 hours work it should take under a week. My bad.

Are there any alternative services that people have used for migrating?

I have been in the programming software business for 40+ yrs and am currently researching the differences in cart databases to do these kind of conversions.  What kind of volume are you looking at per store?  I just chatted with cart2cart today and find them eager to sign you up, but really expensive in what they do.  Obviously you have found them to be really slow as well.

What I do is take the old database and update the new cart database with the data via csv or spreadsheet-like processing.  General things like customers, orders, categories/products are relatively easy.  From what I understand, c2c does this bull work and the rest is up to you.  If you are interested, let me know.
