Transferring 1.6 from localhost to web server host

I have 1.6 running on localhost and now wish to transfer to web host to complete the shop and so forth.  Following the Administrator Guide 1.6

 

I have dumped and loaded the database to my hosting service.

I have edited settings.inc.php with the new host credentials.

 

I get a blank screen when trying to access the admin pages and the default index.html when trying to access the shop.  As I cannot access the back office I edited the SEO details on localhost and uploaded the two MySQL tables - ps_shop_url and ps_configuration (although  "PS_SHOP_DOMAIN" and "PS_SHOP_DOMAIN_SSL" rows do not seem to be rows in t his table?) so the DB has the correct URL data.

 

I have uploaded the robot.txt and .htaccess files.

do not exist so cannot delete the contents (point 5 in the guide).

I feel sure that there is something simple that I have missed?

turn on PrestaShop debug to get underlying php error of blank page...then you more than likely can find solution
