[Theme][newbie]Use a function allready in use

Hello, 

 

I am just new to prestashop development, but discovering a code that as been done to another developer. 

 

I need to use a function that is already working inside another template file. (let call it model.tpl)

 

- so after copying the code from model.tpl inside the already existing catalogue.tpl i want this function to work, i have the error who is :

Could you please help me on the steps i have do toto have the function working ? 

 

- How to define the index ? 

- How to make this as object ?
