AffiliateNoob
Hi everyone, Ive lost my shop :S My laptop has been repaired and a new hardrive installed and now i cant log onto my shop? Im guessing this is because everything was wiped from old hardrive.. Ive called 1&1 my hosting company and asked them what to do, they told me to deinstall the prestashop app in their app store and reinstall it. I did this but when logging back in using the same domain it comes up as a blank new store, all of the work from my old one is lost??? Is there anyway i can restore this back to my previous store or do i need to start again from scratch? Any help would be Greatly Appreciated!! Thanks
razaro
Ive called 1&1 my hosting company and asked them what to do, they told me to deinstall the prestashop app in their app store and reinstall it. Say thanks to good support. But hopefully it is not all lost , usually hosting providers have daily or weekly backups so contact them and ask them to restore last backup of your old store. If you just can not log in into back office (admin part) there is better solutions then to wipe everything . Here are 2 tutorials http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/edu/prestashop-15/308-password-change-via-database http://mypresta.eu/en/art/tips-and-tricks/a-better-way-to-restore-prestashop-admin-password.html
AffiliateNoob
Thanks, just got off the phone to 1&1 and they are having me download a backup using Filezilla to my computer and they said that should give me the backup to a time when my website worked before with all the changes i made. They said once its all transferred it should work as it did before when i log in.. hopefuly it does!

razaro
new template in back office ? What version of prestashop did you had and what it is now ? What is link to your store? What backup did they give you, just files and folders or database also ? Also any screen-shot can be useful.
AffiliateNoob
new template in back office ? What version of prestashop did you had and what it is now ? What is link to your store? What backup did they give you, just files and folders or database also ? Also any screen-shot can be useful. I was using the new 1.6 version as i only started using prestashop in september. Im not sure, they told me to go to my FTP account in 1&1, then they told me to download filezilla and once that was done transfer my presta shop app folder from remote site to my local site.. i did that and its still the blank template? Im not good with all of this comuter stuff as ive never done anything like this before, im unsure what to do. El Patron
ok, time to chime in. Before taking 'any' advice from hosting...they are 'not' expert in PS...well or most things and give boiler plate responses, often incorrectly. you come here first and ask. now I'm afraid unless you have back up...your work is lost

Luckily i didnt lose much, but for future reference when i start again, how do i back it up so if i lose it again or my laptop dies and i lose everything again i can get it back? Im hesitant to start all over and risk losing it all again.
El Patron
you laptop has no real connection to your online shop...unless you run say 'store commander' back up is best done at hosting...there are 3rd party modules, but I don't recommend that path. post new topic on 'best practice' backing up..pm me the link..community will help (ask hosting if they can restore, it's possible...)
