DNI visible but not required

hello,

 

i have running eshop for end customers, but also for companies

if company buys product, they need to fill DNI and VAT number

 

if end customer buys product, he wont fill those fields..

 

by default, this DNI is disabled (in countries settings)

 

what to do, if I want to have this DNI enabled (for companies) but not required (because of end customers)??

 

i tried many thinks and some of them ended by 

- blank screen (even in dev_mode i see nothing)

- or error message (that DNI is already used or not correct),..

- etc..
