To many sub-menus shown pr. default! How to limit link-tree

Hi. Can anybody help:

I have tried many different fancy themes, but has gone back to the standard Prestashop.

Only thing that really give me challenges here is:

 

TOPHORISONTAL / MEGA MENU - STANDARD THEME:

To many sub-menus shown pr. default!

Is the anyway you can limit the out-folded tree menu to f.ex only main categories (Without sub-categories)

By default, in a real shop with many categories and sub cat, the drop-down mega menu look totally confusing,  There MUST be a way to change this, I just can not find it.

Right now I have installed a third part megamenu, but this does not work optimal at mobile-phones, so I´d prefer the standard - with modifications.
