LauraPresta
Im not good enough to understand well what should be the best to do : i have name1.fr site which has a good rank in google but webmastertool doesnt allow to change the site web location and then the site is ranked only for fr language i need to change name1.fr to name2.com, but how to not lose name1.fr rank and not have penalty or duplicate content ? (301 redicect in .htaccess would be enough ?)
vekia
you can try to use 301 redirect with htaccess of course, each change like that will affect your website seo value. 301 is the best solution at the moment and it will minimize seo value loss
El Patron
if in 1.5 or higher. Create a multishop (.com), then share everything with main domain .fr. Create analytics for .com set analytics id for .com in back office run sitemap that's pretty much it, now you keep .fr for localization of France, and you have a .com for global scope. You will need to set up proper dns (cpanel = park/plesk = alias) to main domain. (and yes, once you set the geo country in g webmaster tools, you can't undo it..) ave maria
LauraPresta
Thank you Vekia and thank you El Patron (nice name btw) i took the time needed to think well about this. Vekia solution is simple and could be easily done but i fear so much about ranking. In fact, since 4 months the site is now ranked first for fr language. About El Patron solution, i think that unfortunately im screwed because im pretty sure i wont have the skills needed to do so (in fact my main skill is assembly / machine language). To be sure i ask this 2 questions : Can this be done on a mutualised server ? when i see << (cpanel = park/plesk = alias) >> it sounds like no Your solution isn't considered as duplicate content ? i think like "no" because you are El Patron I've never used multishop and im pretty scared for order management and everything as modules in backoffice. Hey!...I am also from mainframe assembler world! how cool is that? I worked in IBM TPF systems, cracked up at 41(now 56) and took my 'bronze' parachute. jajajajaja re: duplicate content, only if you have multiple gTLD's (.com for example), but when we use (as in your example) .fr as addon shop, it is NOT considered duplicate content. don't be scared!...multishop works great. Contact me if you need private help accomplishing this. here is little thing that most do not take into consideration, new URL domain's have significantly less SEO juice, simply because they are new. so if you change from .com to .fr, well you are going to lose much mojo. sapcha
Hi, You can use this module : http://addons.prestashop.com/fr/referencement-seo-modules-prestashop/18125-seo-redirection-301-302.html It allows you to do redirections between .fr and .com. Thank's Adam
