samyha
Hi, I'm not sure I understand your post. Are you running into a specific issue? If you're searching for a Captcha module, you'll find some on Addons, here. This is also not the right section for your post, so I move it. gvspnr
when they have not even cared to include a captcha, what else is there available in free opensource is anybodys guess.i thought of using it but when I found there is no security for login and registration itself I don't know what to do with the script! well
gvspnr
when u develop a open source script u cant leave even basic capctha system for buying , in that case they can charge for the script itself
samyha
Thank you for your feedback gvspnr. I invite you to submit it to our technical team here: http://bit.ly/UNsqyh. Some features are developed by members of the Community. You'll find their modules on Addons if you need a very specific feature. Have a great day
Dh42
That is the beauty of open source, if you want a captcha, program one in or get a module. Personally I would never, ever use one on a clients site. It would reduce the number of people that would make purchases. But everyone has their own ideas or own ways. gvspnr
yes everyone do have ideas. but should not waste time. if you want money sell it. if u love social service give it free. but even if u want to both give atleast a usable, secure site even with less features. but don't act as if giving great script. I have wasted 3 days of uploadingm, editing etc and finally found . and I don't have any confidence it will stand without even captcha
Dh42
What country are you in that checkouts have captchas? That is not common place in the US or Europe.
gvspnr
well are u some worrier with some sort of rusted sword? I am talking about some basic asecurity for a site not your checkout or chickenout
Dh42
Well where would you suggest it have a captcha?
gvspnr
1. it should have a captcha atleast in registration form 2. nowadays everybody use for login. and open source scripts should have one 3. everywhere public post some thing whether public use or not u should give the option. basic captcha should not be some extra feature, but basic feature
El Patron
big shops, are removing captcha....it's a nuisance and proven to drive customers way. my two cents
samyha
gvspnr, As I said above, your feedback is really appreciate. It's with to our amazing Community's feedback that we can improve the software, so don't hesitate to submit your idea to our technical team, that could be an interesting feature to implement. However, I'll ask you to watch the words you use against Dh42. He's just trying to understand your need. We are on a community forum, and everyone have his own idea of an ecommerce site. Each other's respect is the basis of a good and constructive conversation. Thanks a lot !
gvspnr
I am not abusing dh42. he did asking for country. anyway the issue is prestashop is an opensource ecommerce site which involves money transactions and many innocent people try to use it in the hope of doing some business without big investment. it should have minimum security. and I have purchased phpfox and some people do automated registrations even before I login to admin to enable captcha
Dh42
PrestaShop is not a social networking software. People do not get public profiles that they can put links out to the world with. PHPFox is and does though. People just don't randomly use bots to register at e-commerce sites. Even if they did, what would the point of doing it be? Your payment gateway has the security to protect you from fraudulent transactions, I don't understand why a bot would care to register for an account on a site that has no public facing user created data. I have launched and worked on several hundred PrestaShop sites and none of them have had an issue with bots.
gvspnr
well sir now days people don't hack for immediate gains. they do to prove a point and for some sinister design of threaghtening the world out of its slumber. and one of my friends site using open cart is hacked for no reason.and nowadays the security problems are not country/region specific. hackers and virus work for even innocent testers of hacking knowledge
gvspnr
and it need not be a social networking site. well the problem is more for for ecommerce sites. I think you should read more about internet security issues and make scripts which can withstand atleast basic threats. because new and innocent people don't know much and use them because they are free and oneday drowned in the sea of hackers
gvspnr
and the reason why I am here is that tried to use prestashop and seeing so many features made big plans , have dreams of making it big and finally learning that security is lapsed I have to comedown to earth. after wasting lot of time I have to delete the script
El Patron
Hi, here is the thing, we can have great ideas or a horrible bug but neither exist in the real world without a feature request or bug report on PrestaShop forge. this is the 'only' way to get a new feature or report a bug, click here to do so.
Dh42
If you are worried about security of the site and server, I would not worry. PrestaShop is one of the most secure platforms in the world. Letting people register does not give them special privilege or access to your site, there is no security concern for having people register. It is unfortunate about your friend that used open cart and got hacked, but he was not using PrestaShop. It cannot be hacked this way.
gvspnr
well I am greatfull for your confidence. it will give some hope. but I don't think it is of any use at present. if I request they may add in future probably. I am not here to request features. I was here to try it out what is available. and I am disappointed . I have tried many free scripts and almost all scripts some basic functions they keep it as paid addons. probably its a way of marketing. but really irritating to see marketing done in the name of public service. I do understand money is needed for survival even for developers. but do it straight forward
gvspnr
anyway I am quitting this useless discussion. thanks for the time pass. I will come back and try it again to see if any improvement.
