Nick Lappage
Hi, I've just moved to a VPS server to increase the speed of my shop. I have a backup of my Prestashop database and site files created using the Softaculous backup facility within cPanel. However, I can't see how to restore the database and files. I was using PS v 1.5.4.2 (waiting for a theme update) and have had to download the latest version of PS 1.6.0.9 onto the new server. How can I restore my old version? My SQL database names have changed due to the server move. Thanks Nick
parsifal
Hi Nick. If I understand correctly, Softaculous creates a unique compressed tarball which should contain both the website files and the website database. If this is the case, forget the latest PrestaShop 1.6.0.9. You should first restore the PS 1.5.4.2 backup, confirm that the BackOffice is working correctly and then use the 1-click upgrade module to bring your installation to the most up-to-date PS version. About the change of the database names: since you 're on a VPS, it shouldn't be difficult to create a new database with the exact same name as the old one and then import the .sql or .sql.gz file of the old database. But even if you don't want to keep the same database name, there is no problem: after extracting the website files from the backup, you can just edit the file config/settings.inc.php and change the database name and login credentials there.
