dude1 Posted December 6, 2009 Share Posted December 6, 2009 i just installed prestashop and i wanted to use paypal for payments but looking at the payment modules i see PayPal v1.6Accepts payments by PayPal >> Configure PayPalAPI v1.0Accepts payments by PayPal using APIim just curious whats the difference between these? mama2many Posted December 6, 2009 Share Posted December 6, 2009 I'm curious too. I know with PayPal API you have to have SSL enabled. I stared out using PayPal 1.6 and now switched to API and there is no change as far as notifications. Maybe the API is just a bit more secure? jazz009 Posted December 9, 2009 Share Posted December 9, 2009 PayPal 1.6 is using HTML formPayPal 1.0 API is using the API :-)It's more secure and better for the payment notification, you are right.another interesting feature With PayPal API is the shortcut that you can activate below your shopping cart.Than can make the payment quicker for your buyer as the don't need to register to your website anymore.They can just click on the shortcut button bellow the shopping cart, the pay on paypal website and an account is created automatically inside you Prestashop.This does not suit every business model thought, but could be interesting if you use only PayPal as you will probably see a slight increase on your conversion rate.
