jetx
I have noticed on two occasions where I have rated a mod with two stars that they never appear as such on prestashop. I would have expected a mod which has zero stars when purchased and installed and rated as being worthy of only two stars would appear as such, but they do not. Why is this? This is obviously deliberately done in order to sell more mods, regardless as to how crappy they are. There is no customer feedback published anywhere so informed decisions cannot be made. Not impressed with the prestashop. Shoddy to say the least. Edit: I see some mods are rated as two stars and below, so perhaps it requires more than one vote to take a zero star mod up to two stars? Regardless, there really should be a feedback/ discussion section within the prestashop to discuss openly issues with various mods, rather than having to rely on searching this forum. samyha
Hello jetx, Thanks for your feedback. The stars rating system is based on an average of all the votes made by the customers. You can post your comments or ask for the customer's opinion about the modules in the "paid modules" section, or right here, in the "Addons website" section of the forum. We would never try to falsify the votes in order to sell more modules, that's absolutely not a part of our ethic. If never you're running into any issue, Xavier and I are available to answer to your questions. The goal of this forum is to help everybody setting up their store and optimize it. So if you have some difficulties about this we'll be glad to help. I wish you a great day!
bellini13
Perhaps the module in question should be vetted to determine that the rating system is working properly?
jetx
A better system would be to provide a comments section in addons.prestashop.com within each module page. I am not buying any further mods without review, and a star voting system is just not good enough.
bellini13
An even better system would actually allow the module author to be able to contact the reviewer. When you do get negative feedback, or low star ratings, it would be nice to be able to communicate with that customer and understand what is the problem and how we could enhance the module/theme. The current system does not allow this. Leaving a 2 star rating, or negative feedback does not help make the module better.
samyha
Hello everyone, @Bellini: I agree with you,but the idea of this rating system is to give the developer a global appreciation of his module. We also improved the customer back office on Addons, and displayed a red message telling the customer that if he's not happy with that module, he should contact the developer directly in order to communicate with him. From there, the customer is free to decide if he wants to send a message to the developer or not, and we can't force them to do so, I hope you will understand this. @jetx: Adding a comments section is on our list. We noticed that it will certainly help the users while choosing modules. Our team is planning this .
bellini13
Hi Samyha, thanks for your feedback, however if the customer chooses to leave a poor rating or provide a comment saying "module doesn't work", then there is a significant problem that needs to be addressed. I have no ability to communicate with my customers, and therefore leaving that comment is not helpful to anyone. The customer, me, Prestashop or any future customer does not benefit from this. If the module truly does not work, then how did it get past the validation process in the first place (makes you wonder... doesn't it?) I would hope Prestashop reconsiders this poor experience and allow for better communication between the module author and its customers.
jetx
A comment + rating would be the best, allowing for the dev to respond. Much like tripadvisor. That way a potential customer can decide whether the positives outweigh the negatives. Let's face it no product is going to please everyone, so with a published comment and a published follow-up by the dev everyone who is interested can see.
