Need help with CMS Url redirection through rewrites in htaccess or a CMS Module

Need to redirect 4 old CMS urls to 1 new one. I was told via HostGator that it could be accomplished in two ways, first would be to setup the rewrites in the .htaccess, if this is done the rewrites would need to be placed before any code in the file which configures the script to process the urls. Second, a CMS module CMS which supports redirection of the page.

 

Do not know where to begin with the rewrites. Searching for a module. Any ideas of a module? If not, I need steps on how to setup rewrites.
