url rewriting and categories names configuration?

I use PS 1.6.9, i have enable url rewriting and friendly urls, my problem is that instead of having

 

http://www.example.com/category_1/sscategory_2/sscategory_3

 

I end up with

 

 

http://www.example.com/sscategory_3

 

the whole path to this sub category is gone...

 

what should i do to solve this problem?
