Is there NO easy way to get Cost of Goods Sold in Prestashop 1.6!?!

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I'm desperately trying to figure out profits based on Wholesale Price, and Retail Price figures but

there doesn't seem to be an easy way to do it and I can't figure out why that's not a basic part
of Prestashop. I've heard about Store Manager, Quickbooks and Wegibility but these are mostly for PCs
not for a Mac as I have, also this software runs into hundred dollars for what is a REALLY BASIC necessity. Even when downloading from the backend It only provides the pre-tax retail price and the retail price, why? I would think that the wholesale price is dramatically more imporant than the pre-tax retail price??? It's obvious that the most important piece of information to the survival of a retailer's buisness is to know how much profit they make.

Either way what solutions exist to calculate the Cost of Goods sold or at least what module or modules
will let me download a product listing that gives the wholesale and retail price please?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is not a way that I am familiar with, but there are 3rd party modules that do it. Businesstech makes a pretty good one I hear.

Thanks Dh42! I found it here:  http://www.businesstech.fr/en/reports-and-statistics/21-prestashop-module-sales-tax-profit-and-profit-margin-reports.html

Also, is there any module for 1.6 that will allow a download of wholesale and the retail price of the product?

It's amazing! The most basic and crucial function of any retailer is to know their profit on their product, Prestashop doesn't inherently provide it and in the case of BusinessTech it costs almost $200 for that module, to figure that one piece out! Craziness!!

I would say either being able to purchase items or being able to charge shipping for them would be the most basic function of a shopping cart. Being able to generate expense reports and cost analysis reports is a basic function of accounting software.

Would it be a good feature? Sure it would be, but there are other bugs a lot of people would like fixed first. You also have to weigh, the more features a program like PrestaShop has, the more server resources it uses. If every feature everyone wanted was added before you know it, it would take a dedicated server to run even the most basic site. Generating a report like you are wanting is actually pretty server intensive since you have to do full reads on so many database tables. Plus the amount of information you would have to store if the module was designed properly, it would also add a lot of overhead to the database. It is not an easy task, but in the end if I had a vote on the matter, I would chose to not have this feature in PrestaShop. It is a feature that needs to be utilized through quickbooks or some other means.
