Mike_N
Hello all, I've by now gone through all the hoops associated with the dreaded free shipping behavior and managed to set up my store just the way I wanted. My shipping carrier is UPS, and I offer UPS Ground for free by choice, as well as 2-day and next day at a premium, and everything works beautifully, however, I can't seem to find how to restrict free shipping to only the continental US and not include Alaska and Hawaii. Searching the forum and googling hasn't helped so far. I would appreciate any pointers, even a premium module if guaranteed to work. Thank you in advance! NemoPS
If you create 2 zones (usa continental and usa non-continental) and assign free shipping to the first only, you should get what you need (I'd keep the default north america for all states but those 2, and only move those, to save time)
Mike_N
Thank you! Let me see if I got it right... and in case someone else wonders: in localization->zones in back office I created "Non-continental us", in localization->states, assigned Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico to the newly created zone. Now, I see there's a bunch of canadian and mexican territories in North America, would they be ignored (I read somewhere that as long as default country is set to US in localization, it would only ship to the US) - is that true? Or should I better create another zone for "Continental US"? Edited September 21, 2014 by Mike_N (see edit history)
NemoPS
If you disable mexico and canada as countries, yes, they will be ignored. otherwise you need another zone
