How many image sizes is better for only one product?

Hi guys!

 

I`m new in the forum. I have been installing Prestashop for a several days and I have a doubt with the images of the products:

 

For home page I use 272x310px PNG-8 images, but when you go to product page and click in the image, you have a little image and is not pretty. Which size is appropiate for this product detail? How many image sizes do you upload for every product? keeping in mind storage limits and performance.

You can upload just one big image 800px X 800px for example and prestashop will make smaller copies of it.

You set image sizes in BO > Preferences > Images.
