i think he was asking about product id, not reference code,

and in that case he can edit product id only in the database as far as i know

As far as I know you can only add a product id (as product_id) if you make a CVS import. Or use the option offered by MacRoy, just register a customized reference for your product in Code field. Very useful when you should match manufacturers/providers reference codes with products in PS catalog.

i do not advice you to change/insert product id directly into database, there are more then 1 table to edit

You must make the changes inside the prestashop and not in the database!

Same advice as Sooroos, especially if you do not have experience in modifying data directly in a database... Paulito is also right, what is the purpose of changing product_id?  Perhaps we can offer you other painless methods if we know what is your goal.
