ricky11
Every couple of days I see in 1.609, Modules need updating. where can i find the release notes for the updated modules? I tired searching here, and on Google but could not find anything relating to how these modules are updated (i imagine github) but it would be nice to see the release notes before updating i am sure they are available somewhere. bellini13
there are no release notes. they expect you to do 2 things 1) use a code comparison tool to inspect the differences between the old and new versions. you are then expected to understand what the changes fix 2) you can review the code changes in github, and again you are expected to understand what those code differences fix. you can do search in the forums for this topic, and you will find it has been discussed many times without any resolution that Prestashop developers would provide any sort of change log for modules.
ricky11
Thanks for your reply. I can sense your frustration too. That is very surprising, even the most gifted programmers of community driven software always whip up release notes for any upgrade or in this case a module update. How is one suppose to run a fault tolerant eCommerce business without knowing what he/she is upgrading too? I understand that major updates have release notes, but shouldn't minor module upgrades enjoy the same benefit? The problem is one has no outlet to bring this up with management even in github,, there is simply no outlet to do so. What ever happened to uservoice? This needs to be resolved. PShop needs to put out release notes for module upgrades in a language other than ones and zeros for the very community that supports them. Look at openerp, odoo, and other open community driven platforms, they have a better way of communicating with their customers. They do not alienate, and they certainty do not push upgrades without providing detailed information. I love prestashop, but they need to resolve this. Please then post link to forge feature request back here so other can follow/comment/vote up. Thanks
lateral
Based upon my 30 years of experience in the IT industry working with and running a software development company I can tell you that getting a software developer to correctly ad comments to his or her code is similar to asking them to cut off one of there arms. Trying to get them to write any type of change log is a similar task.... This was difficult to get developers who were paid a salary to do.........
