jerdoggmckoy
Hey everyone, I'm new here, so thanks in advance for any help and what looks to be an exciting and promising shopping cart and community. Outstanding as far as I can tell. This may be a no brainer, but I just need to make sure I'm doing this perfectly right if possible. The installation instructions state:"Then make sure the following folders have ‘write’ permissions and apply these permissions recursively (to their subfolders): "In using Filezilla to FTP, I have the option to recurse into subdirectories as far as:1.) Apply to all files and directories2.) Apply to files only3.) Apply to directories onlyWhich is the best choice? Thanks in advance for any help!!! =)

jerdoggmckoy
Hey Zenith, thanks for the reply!!! I am new to Prestashop, and I am just now playing with it and getting myself familiar with its workings. This is second installation I've done, have default everything in the 2 shops right now. This last shop I did, I followed your advice and did the #3 selection of only changing the subfolders permissions. My very first installation, which is still only default information and sample shop installed, I told the permissions to all be the 777 for subfolders and all files. Should I do a reinstall for that first one? Or should I go and change all the permissions back to their original, which I 'm not sure what those permissions should be, and then re-do it? Zenith
Permissions for folders should be 0755, permissions on files should be 0644.No need to change them back, its no real problem.
jerdoggmckoy
Thanks again for your help Zenith!!! So even though the installation instructions state to CHMOD at 777, for security reasons, we really should be setting them to 755 is that correct? Zenith
0777 or 0755 is fine, however I have noticed with some modules that 0777 will return a 500 Internal error, setting these to 0755 corrects that issue.
Riv3n
Yeap, i also have a lots of internal error message, such was:Wishlist dont works as intended,i couldn´t finish my orders in cartsend mailsetcI just have CHMOD to 755 the directory "modules" (files and folders) and now everything works fine. Not sure if all of folders in there really needs that kind of permission rules, but for now i leave it like this.cheersL.J
