IeM
Hi, I have a store with a Category Tree set. Now I'm adding other stores using Multistore. As a result I need to move the original Category Tree down a few levels under a different sub category, as the original store will now be a subset of another wider scope store. When you add a new category, a Category Tree is made available to select where that new category is to be located making it simple. However, when you go to edit an existing category, I can not find any Category Tree to change the level location of the category being edited. How do I move a category WITH it's subcategories down category tree levels under a newly set up category. For clarification, I am not talking about changing the rank/view potion of a category on the same tree level. It needs to go down levels under a different tree branch altogether. Example tree with the numbers representing the levels of the tree and 'X' being the original Category Tree: X0 A1 A2 A3 B2 Change to: A0 A1 A2 A3 B1 C1 A2 B2 X3 A4 A5 B4 Edited September 9, 2014 by IeM (see edit history)
IeM
Ok, I believe the reason why I am not getting a Category Tree when I go to edit a Category is because the categories I tried to move were root categories. It would seem that they have to stay on the top level and can not be changed from the root categories type. This means my original single shop category can not be moved down any levels. If this is the case, then the answer is to rename it, add sub categories under it, and then move each of it's old top level sub categories under one of the new lower sub categories one at a time. In turn, their sub categories should move with them and stay under them in the new locations.
