'Woger
I have a made a few changes to some files to change appearances and layout. Last time I upgraded it did overwrite these changes and I had to find out again what changes I made and redo them. Does anyone have a system to make this more easy? bellini13
The suggested approach is to copy the default theme to a new theme package, and then make changes within this copied theme. This way, when you upgrade and the default theme is changed, it should not impact your copied theme. Probably the easiest way is to go into your back office preferences theme page, and then use the export function to export your default bootstrap theme. This will create a zip file that you can save on your desktop. You would then use this zip file to install a theme, just like if you had purchased a theme from the addons store. So just install this theme and activate it. Now you should have 2 themes, and you are no longer using default bootstrap. So if changes are made to default during the upgrade, it should not impact you. Just be careful that this only applies to files within /themes/default-bootstrap. Themes however still use the core javascript and css which are not located in the theme directory. So if you have made changes to those files, they will be lost. Now as an aside, you are preparing to upgrade your store. STOP... Research how to create a duplicate copy of your store (aka test store), and perform a trial upgrade on your test store. Only when you are able to successfully upgrade your test store, and you have tested that everything functions properly, should you consider to upgrade your live production store. 'Woger
Thanks Bellini13, i allready have a test server, but when I copy the production server I get problems with the subdomain and the local path.
bellini13
you need to go to the SEO and URL page in the back office and change the domain and baseURL to whatever your test server uses

Hi bellini, few time ago I started testing and customining the PS1.6 theme, before upgrading my store that actually run 1.4.9. The theme I customized is form 1.6.0.6 version, since in the meanwhile coming out new version i try upgrading on local to PS 1.6.0.6. My theme folder it's renamed and after upgrade i also copied my old module folder because i edited some of them. All my modify are there and working, but I'm having some trouble with ajax cart and fancybox. No popup opened after adding a product to the cart and fancybox opening in new page... It's possible that a theme based on PS1.6.0.6 it's not compatible with 1.6.0.9?
'Woger
OK, It seems I have the copy up and running. However if I upload the backup zip to create another instance of default-bootstrap it errors with"theme defailt-bootstrap allready exists". But I can experiment with this copy".
