lateral
Hi guys Whilst I am new to PS, I'm not new to technology. Having said that, I am totally confused how Modules/ hooks etc tie in together and actually work. What I do know is that hooks are located on pages and that modules are "connected" to hooks...so far so good. I just find the whole backend administration of modules and hooks, transplanting etc very confusing. I have spent many hours reading and trying to get modules to work on my theme. Some of them I can get to work and others, such as the ManufacturersBlock I just can't get the damn thing to be located/transplanted onto my theme. I look at my theme via Live Edit and it's not there. Can somebody please help? Regards Greg
dioniz
Try to reset module. Do you have any manufacturer?
Paulito
Hello It is perhaps better Not to use Live Edit but use "Modules Positions" Anyway, by default, the Manufacturers block is hooked into displayHeader and displayLeftColumn Paul
lateral
Hi guys Yes, I do have Manufacture records setup with Logos. Paul, are you saying not to use "Live Edit" because it doesn't really allow you to do anything other than delete hooks? or that it is buggy etc????? I have tried to use "Module Positions" but I am struggling to see the effects of my changes. I have a few questions. 1. Are all hooks always on every page of a theme by default or do the theme designer determine which hooks he/she will place on the theme? 2. I had assumed that by using Live Edit, I would be able to "see" the hooks that are on my theme. Is this correct? 3. If I don't use Live Edit, how will I know what hooks are on my theme? Paulito
Hello I think, from what I have read on the forum that live edit can be a "bit buggy" so I do not use it The best thing to do is go to: Back office > Modules > Positions > (ensure "All Modules" is visible in the field box) > scroll down the page to see which modules are hooked where http://screencast.com/t/zmhxWYMPp If you want to see here a particular module is hooked, for example "Manufacturers" then make sure this module is visible in the field box http://screencast.com/t/PCwdoFyIU Perhaps you could let us know what you are trying to achieve Paul
lateral
Hi Paul, Ideally I would like a carousel for either Suppliers or Manufactures logo to be displayed across the top or bottom of every page. Something like this http://codecanyon.net/item/manufacturer-logo-responsive-carousel/full_screen_preview/5295473 I was playing around with the Manufacturers block to see if I could get it to work so that I could see what it displayed. Regarding your second screen shot for Manufactuers block, is this listing all of the hooks that are on the default theme or is it listing all of the possible hooks that can be somehow placed onto the theme? Paulito
Hello Have you seen this one http://addons.prestashop.com/en/front-office-features-prestashop-modules/8731-partners-and-manufacturers-brand-logo-carousel-slider.html Or is this the same as your link Paul
lateral
It looks like the same module but it is not showing the carousel at the bottom. Check out the link that I posted.
Paulito
Hello I think the carousel is in the footer http://screencast.com/t/VwaRQWQwS Paul
lateral
Yep, your correct. On the link I sent you the carousel is in the middle of the page..... Would you mind answering my other question? "Regarding your second screen shot for Manufactuers block, is this listing all of the hooks that are on the default theme or is it listing all of the possible hooks that can be somehow placed onto the theme?"
