Can't attach images to Categories or upload jpg's to Products

Hi Guys

 

This issue has just started to occur and I don't know why or how to fix it.

 

When I try to attach an image to a Product and press "upload", I get the following error:

 

crankshaft001.jpg : Image format not recognized, allowed formats are: .gif, .jpg, .png

 

The file is definitely a jpg file.

 

The issue I have with Category images is that I go through the correct steps to attach the image including saving the record but the image is NOT being attached. There is no error message.

 

I have successfully created numerous product and category records previously and attached images....

 

What's going on?

 

I have also "Regenerated Thumbnails"....

 

I'm using 1.6.0.6.

I have exactly the same issue, seems to be some issues with the php files in 1.6 I googled the error message and presta shop and there are some prototype php files that you can patch, and one edited by a user, When applied I get further than the cannont upload error and now get

 

adt.jpg : Error while uploading image; please change your server's settings. (Error code: Missing a temporary folder)

 

I found another suggesting changing the settings to 777 for the images directory and another to create a tmp folder in a php file, tried all these but not further forward..

Hmmm. This is strange.

 

It was working ok and then stopped working. I'll have another look at what you are referring to.

 

If got a funny feeling it may related to something at my hosting end.

After some more testing it appears that if I create a new Category and attach a JPG, sometimes it works but displays a different jpg and sometimes it works and doesn't display anything.

 

When I say "it works", I mean that it does not display an error message.

 

If I try to upload a thumbnail to a Category, I get the same error message as when I upload an image to a Product record (Image format not recognized, allowed formats are: .gif, .jpg, .png)

 

I cannot upload jpg's to a Product record without getting the following error:

 

Image format not recognized, allowed formats are: .gif, .jpg, .png

 

Update:

 

I have also given the folders the highest permissions possible and the error still happens....I'm getting more convinced that its something on the Host side...

Does anyone have a solution to this issue????

 

I have checked with my Host provider and everything is fine at their end.

 

If I can't solve this issue I can't use Prestashop therefore I will need to find another Ecommerce solution........

I'm having this same issue, someone PLEASE PLEASE answer this...  I could upload pictures to my products using prestashop 1.3 but after I updated prestashop to 1.6 I could no longer do it.

 

I REALLY need to upload more products! PLEASE HELP!!!

 

(I'm using godaddy for hosting by the way, if it is a hosting problem...)

Hi mate. I don't know why but I installed a trial version of Store Commander to see if I could add images using another tool other than the Prestashop back office and it worked! I could add images via both Store Cimmander and the back office. Try it and let me know.

I am having the same problems. I can not add or upload any new images......changing images in the default store this problem is critical. I just installed a new version of this 1.6 and there is the same issue, I get error messages when I try to upload photos.

 

Is there any fix to this?

Well still no solution I see. I have tried every single "fix" listed here or elsewhere. Nothing works. It appears every release has had this same issue. I wonder if some of the dev's made the wrong person mad and this is there revenge.

 

P.S. to Lateral I could not find Store Commander. Were you talking about Store Manager? Either way The trial expires and I am not willing to pay to have access to basic functionality of an open source program.
