make an item "hidden" in store

is there a way to make an item hidden in the shop....I want to add an item but not make it available to the general public to view.

Is there a way to have the link but not have it show up in the store.

Make sure there is a cross in the displayed column of that item in your back office catalog listing.
Or in your Info tab make sure disabled is selected.

Think I misunderstood query.

No way to do that which I'm aware of.

Possible solution found.

Create a subcategory and leave it disabled.
This will not show up as a link in your shop.

Create product inside this subcategory and enable it.
This will not show up as a link in your shop...
BUT
You could give people a direct link to it.

I've just tried and was able to add to my cart.

See if that gives you the desired result.
