Orders Appear Twice

Hi,

 

I've a site that has been functioning fine since its launch earlier this year. But the last two orders in August are suddenly appearing twice in BO > Orders > Orders (see attachment). 

 

Inspecting the Orders page, I see that the Paypal transaction ID is identical for the duplicate orders (the system is treating one order as two orders, though payment is received only once). The system is:

• triggering the order recording twice, giving each order a new Order number. In my screenshot, Order Ids 35 & 36 are the same order, and so are Orders 37 & 38. Order 34 is the last order that did not have this issue.
• the invoice number is also incremented
• the "Valid orders placed" shows "2" (this customer is new and ordering for the first time)
• the "Total spent since registration" should be $28 (cost of 1 item), but the second order shows $28 x 2 = $56.
• Order notification email is also being sent twice to the admin. I have no idea whether the customer is getting two emails as well. 

 

PS has not been upgraded, no new modules have been installed, and modules that require upgrading are yet to be upgraded (ie nothing done in the BO lately that could have caused this). The server software (on VPS) has also not been upgraded (uses PHP 5.4.x).

 

I can't find a solution for this on the forum. Can someone assist?

I was just wondering if you ever found a solution? I have the same problem now.

Times are different so this is not a database issue but rather PayPal module one. I think one can debug it step-by-step in a debugger only.
