How to copy my mainsite to a subdomain?

Recommended Posts

Can a Mod. move this post to the "installing-prestashop" forum please ?

I am running PS 1.6 the site is closed atm but the url is http://vildmedkager.dk

and i have created a subdomain test.vildmedkager.dk.

I would like to make a copy of my main site vildmedkager.dk on my subdomain where i will be testing new stuff before i add it to the main site.

I have followed this video

Its for PS 1.5 but i can almost follow every step.

THe only problem i have is about 7. mins in where i on the new domain have to go to ".../cache/smarty/complie" and delete all the files expect the index file.

But my folder looks different from the video, i have lots of folders with files in them and no index files. (i have not deleted any of the files!)

when i have done what the video say i have to do and enter the url of the new site test.vildmedkager.dk i get a warning about my SSL looking like this

SSL_error.gif

It would be nice to get SSL to work on the test site but i dont know if it will work without buying a new certificate, and i dont know how to get it to work if it is possible?

When i proceed anyway i get to my test site and at first everything seems to work (i have not setup any payment yet so i dont know if that will work becouse that will use the SSL).

When i know go to my main site vildmedkager.dk it will redirect to test.vildmedkager.dk.

When i enter the backend on vildmedkager.dk and under "SEO & URL's" change the shop domain and SSL from test.vildmedkager.dk to vildmedkager.dk it works again. but now the testsite test.vildmedkager.dk

are redirecting to vildmedkager.dk when i enter test.vildmedkager.dk....

I how someone can understand what im trying to explain, becouse im really lost.

I would like to have a live running mainsite http://vildmedkager.dk that is working and a test site http://test.vildmedkager.dk where i test out new things.

What am i doing wrong and how do i fix it ???
