ribbonprint
Hoping someone can help, We updated prestashop from 1.4.6.2 to 1.5.3 a couple of months back Customers who originally registered with us while on 1.4.6.2 have the following issue 1. They attempt to login but their password does not work 2. They attempt to reset their password but get an error message. 3. They then call us for help 4. We log into prestashop back office and change their password 5. We tell the customer to update their password. 6. Customer is happy, no more issues. However this is a pretty poor experience, not to mention the number of customers who are not bothering to call us to reset the password. Is there a way to reset all passwords for customers who have not logged in since we updated prestashop? Regards, Evan

Regards, Evan Do you have a backup of your shop from before you did the upgrade, it seems like a cookie key issue. However, if we "fix" it this way, the one's who have already changed their passwords would have to use their old passwords.
ribbonprint
I do have the backup, but very reluctant to impact any of the customers who have already gone through the password change process. Ideally l am looking to reset the passwords only for customers who have not logged into the upgraded site Any other thoughts?

Robbie301
I think I solved the issue, Installing the following module seems to have corrected the problem Password recovery & High Security Password Storage After buying this and attempting to install it I'm getting the following error: [PrestaShop] Fatal error in module Customer: Cannot redeclare class CustomerCore Can I ask how you installed this module? All information I have found relating to this error and Prestashop tells me that the module is incorrectly designed and should not have certain elements in it, as they are native to Presta already. I can't see how you managed to install this if its design is fundamentally flawed. EDIT: Waited a couple of days to get a response from the developer, who then wanted access to our system to investigate the cause. Obviously, I couldn't supply access because of customer data security and the security of our business. We requested a refund, which PrestaShop SA refused, we escalated it to a claim with PayPal and they found in our favor today. I think it's important to remind people that handing over access to core parts of your business to a complete stranger in another part of the world is not acceptable and certainly not safe. As a trader/retailer you are responsible for the security of all customer data, and anyone potentially having access to it should be an employee who can be legally held accountable. Users of PrestaShop (and PrestaShop itself) should be aware of this. Modules should work, and if they don't you (or an IT person you know and trust, someone who can be accountable) should be supplied with information to rectify any problem, you should never give access to your business to a complete stranger.
