Disabling product comments module leaves error message

Hi

 

I wish to disable the product comments module but doing so leaves the following errors where the template's 'comment' section used to be:

 

Notice: Undefined index: nbComments in...

 

And

 

Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in

 

I'm thinking that just disabling the module is not the right way to go about removing the comments options. Is there another way or do I simply comment out the relevant code in the product.tpl that displays the comments?
