Adding an attribute to multiple products ?

I'm pretty new to online shop uploading and have uploaded many products etc.

I begun with a drop down menu, which was getting too long etc. I now have an attribute filter working but 

each time I think of a 'collective new attribute' for all products in a category say, I spend hours upon hours editing each product attributes individually which seems madness!

I have well over a 1000 products in my shop but many share similar attributes.

 

Can any of you more experienced shop owners help me with adding an attribute to multiple products at once please ??

Well, sadly enough it's not possible by default, prestashop lacks this functionality So the only standard way of doing it is by hand, product by product, using the combo generator maybe.
