Best hosting for Prestashop 1.6

Recommended Posts

I've redone my shopping cart from Opencart to Prestashop 1.6 on Ipower.com... and it doesn't function very well. I need to move my site.

So my question for all... which is the best hosting for Prestashop 1.6.

I have justhost & bluehost accounts. Recently they've begun limiting database size so basically, you can't really have more than 1 site functioning properly.

I have used 1&1 before and have had problems in the past. but I always loved how unlimited their service is.

Does anyone know much about inmotion hosting?

This is what prestashop recomends: http://www.prestashop.com/en/ecommerce-hosting/

Which do you think is the best performance without flaw?

You don't want to use a hosting company that offers "unlimited" accounts. It is usually a pretty big red flag that you'll have a bad experience. Just Host and Blue Host are both owned by EIG and I've never heard anyone say they have had any good experiences with any EIG owned hosting. 1x1 is also a company I have only heard negative things about.

I recently left GoDaddy because of speed issues and because I found their technical support was basically useless and frustrating. I'm with Site5 and I am really impressed with them so far but given the shortness of my use I don't want to fully endorse them until I've been using them at least six months. That said I am very critical and I have nothing negative to say.

Before picking Site5 I made a short list of hosting companies that were good (probably still have it somewhere) and the one thing I can say is that none of them were names I had ever heard of prior to doing research.

When doing research you should be aware that the vast majority of (basically all) websites with Top 10 lists, reviews, rankings etc and just affiliate marketing sites who will recommend whoever is offering the highest referral fees. You shouldn't consider any of the reliable.

Well, first and foremost, i would suggest get a hosting company in the country where you are targeting your customer base, is it in USA look for one there, if its in UK look for one there. I am using ProIsp, but that is because mostly because my visitors is from Scandinavia and Europe/Russia. Unfortunately i have no experience with any USA-providers, so if thats where you are targeting. Another thing that might be of interest is a hosting company that offer CDN, this might help speed up for international visitors.

Hi, I'm brand new to Prestashop. I joined yesterday. I purchase a domain from 123 reg and pointed the name servers to prestashop so all is fine.

Do I need a hosting company now? I thought Prestashop was the host.

Sorry if I sound stupid.

Looking on e-bay it was easy to find what you purchased and yes it includes 12 months of hosting.

You've paid for it now so not much you can do but this is not how I would have gone about it.

PrestaShop is free software that you can install in any hosting account and for almost any decent host will offer it as a one-click install. What you basically bought was hosting with PrestaShop pre-installed.

I would be cautious about services like this. They are obviously geared towards inexperienced users and while it could just be someone trying to make a few bucks offering a service for novices typically people who build business models targeting the inexperienced offer sketchy services and exploit their customers.

If I was PrestaShop I would also possibly be concerned about the way these services are marketed. There seems to be trademark and passing-off issues here since I'm certain binnie is not the only person who has seen those e-bay listings and make incorrect assumptions about what was being sold.

I hope you did not pay much for this and also...I am just a bit concerned you bought this over ebay, you had them set this up for you, so they basically have the username and password for your account and/or site for the Prestashop setup.

As Naldinho pointed out, this is not what i would have gone about it. Make sure that you change all password if possible.

I crossing my fingers that its a serious company that you came in touch with :-)

If not, allways feel free to come here for help and guidance, its a bunch of hardcore and newbie (including myself) that uses prestashop.

Thanks for all the info. In the end I with InMotion hosting. And Wow!!! What a difference. I always thought prestashop was a bit slow in the admin, but i realise it's crappy hosting.

I have a just house account that I test on. prestashop is pretty slow on that server. I'm pleased with Inmotion! So far so good. Now lets see what happens when I fill up their server with a few more sites.
