Error on manual upgrade to 1.6.0.9

I have repeatedly failed to do automatic upgrade from version 1.5.6.2 so I tried the manual upgrade and followed the steps in the users manual in the resources section.

 

However on running the upgrade script /install/upgrade/upgrade.php using Google Chrome I get the following error

 

This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

Using Internet Explorer I get

 

<?xml version="1.0"?>

<action error="35" result="fail"/>

 

 

Any idea what is wrong?

you need to keep reading through the xml output looking for the failure, what you provided is just a summary of the failure and is not helpful at all

it may be possible to run the xml through a validator

the main question we might have is what xml file is it?

when you perform an upgrade, at the end Prestashop displays the result of the database updates performed.  The result is just an xml payload, which i believe can also be found in the logs folder

Also with problems updating from 1.6.0.8 to 1.6.0.9

 

The activity log stops with this message :

 

Database backup: 212 table(s) left...

 

[Ajax / Server Error for action backupDb] textStatus: "error " errorThrown:"Not Found " jqXHR: "  

 

Any suggestions?
