deepee
Hi All Is it possible to redirect all incoming traffic, including direct links, to a temporary index page containing a link to the real index page? I have a customer who wants to keep his shop active while he is away on a 10 day break. His idea is that all traffic is directed to a temporary landing page displaying a notice that orders can be placed but will not be processed unitil a certain date. A link to the normal index page will give customers the ability to exit the temporary page and enter the shop. Is this possible or would it be better just to put the shop under maintenance over that time? I also have concerns on the efect this will have on SEO on both options and would apprecaite any thoughts. Thanks deepee Edited August 15, 2014 by deepee (see edit history)
parsifal
Hi deepee. I think that this would not be good for SEO and it would be better to find and propose another solution to your customer. For example: how about a Javascript modal popup with the cautionary message you mentioned? Just a thought!

deepee
Thanks to both for tyour feedback and suggestions. Is there a module that will do this for 1.5 upwards? I've also got concerns that most people use popup blockers?
NemoPS
I also agree with parsifal. There should be a couple of modules to add a modal popup to your store. As for ad blockers, they won't block any javascript triggered modal box similar to lightbox (because it's html, not a browser popup)
waldiPL
vekias popup pro module will be right choice you can define there a lot of params (like param to display popup window for example from 20.08.2014 - 30.08.2014) and popup is based on lightbox, so it's not blocked by addblockers etc.
deepee
That will work! Thanks to all for your input.
