Category description in product page

Hello

there have been probably tens of this questions but I did not find exactly the same concern

I would consider to "copy" the sub category description in each product page, from the product.tpl file

for example

imagine to have the
MAIN CATEGORY A
The sub category A1
The sub sub category AA1

then if the product p1 is into the sub sub category AA1

I would display category description AA1 in product p1 page

if a product p2 is into sub category A1, it has to show A1 category description and not AA1 and so on....

So each product has to show its own "belonging to" category description only in a new field to place in a new tab field

A linked question to this would be, does this improve or penalise SEO results ?

If this would penalise SEO so there is no reason to find a way to do it

Please let me know your thoughts

THat said, I believe the only way to achieve this is by overriding the product controller. The initCOntent method would probably be the right place.

Try with $category = new Category($this->product->id_category_default, $this->context->language->id);

then $this->context->smarty->assign('cat_desc', $category->description);

Of course call the parent initcontent at the end!

I am also facing a similar problem. Can you explain it step by step as to how to add the above mentioned code.

Do I create a new file by the name of product.php in override/controllers/front and add the code or add it in the existing index.php?

Yes, well, it uses the standard class extension, so yes, you create a file named productController.php (same as the original one) and paste that code inside. However, this part is wrong

 $category = new Category($this->product->id_category_default, $this->context->language->id);
 
$this->context->smarty->assign('cat_desc', $category->description);

As it must go inside the initContent method as well

Am getting the following error on the Product page

there was a parsing error (a curly brace too much)

now the error has been removed but nothing has changed,

In the product page I keep seeing the product description only without the category description reported within it.
