Modules recommendation for International Shop

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I will create a shop for latin american but I have some problems, the products that we sell have different price depending on the country so I am thinking in use this module GeoHide Products http://addons.prestashop.com/en/international-localization-prestashop-modules/11936-geo-hide-products.html Create one product many times, with the price difference, and only show the corresponding product in the country taking into account the price.

Example. A product in Bolivia is cheaper than in Chile.

What is your opinion? Do you recommend a better solution?

There is issue with modules and native PrestaShop that use the native PrestaShop geo localization.  When the IP for that country can not be resolved to country, then native PrestaShop disallows shopping.

geolitecity.dat file is from MaxMind works about 85% of the time, so 15% of visits would be disallowed shopping.

so, what to do?

1. create domains for each country and use native PrestaShop multishop feature.  Each configued by country domain, .co/.br etc would only allow registration for that country, not others (including shipping to only one country)  But this causes issue if a Colombian went to a Brazil shop for example.

2. I have module Geo Targeting Pro, while this uses native PrestaShop geo localization, we extend this feature by allow for a 'default' country when IP can not be resolved.  (very important).  Then you  can safely use native PrestaShop geo location and 'specifc price by country' back office-->catalog-->prodcuts-->edit product-->add new specific price by country.  note: this module does not support hiding products by country.

tip: one should consider option one but where all products/customers/shipping etc are shared across domain, this allows for higher SEO by country, i.e etiendas.co/etiendas.es/etiendas.com.co etc.

to the previous I add

option 3.

set product prices using 'specific price by country'

back office-->customers-->groups-->edit group visitor-->set to not show prices

update shop to indicated that one must 'register' or 'log-in' to shop.

now when visitor logs in, PrestaShop will use their registerd country when displaying prices, and if speicifc price by country for that product, use that.
