Mister Denial
Hello everyone, as the default bootstrap-template is missing a <h1> tag, I thought it would be smart to place one in the text of the default slider module. However, for some reason, all testing tools show that I now have 2 identical <h1> tags. I checked the source code on my site, I only see one <h1> tag, but all SEO tools show 2, like here: http://seositecheckup.com/checkup/h1_h2_heading_status/9ce46f0451f18b4a1631fee3c80844ac?url=http://www.the-black-angel.com/ Because having two <h1> tags is a big no-no, I would like to fix this as soon as possible. Anyone else having this problem? Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong? Thanks for your input and help! Dan

Dh42
The issue is with the tool, not the template.
Mister Denial
Ok, I am going to check on Forge then if it has already been reported, if not I am going to open a new bug. Because even though H1 tags might no longer have the importance they once had, better take no risks and get on the bad side of the almighty Google, right? ;-)
Mister Denial
Here's the bug on forge: http://forge.prestashop.com/browse/PSCSX-2901 Feel free to comment and add to it, as I believe that from an SEO point of view, this should be fixed as soon as possible.
saranrajj
We are not suppose to have two H1 tags. But we can have two H2 tags
Mister Denial
I know, two H1 tags is bad, which is why this is a bug that needs to be fixed. Whatever content you put in the first and the last slide of the default slide module will be duplicated. So if you put ONE H1 tag in there, this bug will create TWO H1 tags. My guess is that it could be caused by the looping function, it's already being investigated on Forge, so hopefully there will be a fix very soon. Mister Denial
Hello, I had reported this duplicate H1 tag issue in Forge, but Prestashop has decided this error will not be fixed, as the slider module does require duplicate content on first and last slide to work. So, is there any other good way in the default bootstrap template to include a H1 tag at the top of the page, other than the slider?
Bill Dalton
I'm pretty sure two H1 tags are bad is a myth. Before Google H1 tags were HTML that we used anytime we wanted header text. The latest version of HTML – the computer language that’s used to build pages on the web – enables developers to divide the page up into sections. And each section can have its own h1 tag (headline/heading). According to Matt Cutts, Google will not penalize you for multiple h1′s on a page, but he does caution that if using it for SEO, multiple tags may be ignored, but not hurt your ranking.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIn5qJKU8VM
Mister Denial
Hi Bill, thanks for the precisions about this! :-) The duplicate H1 tag is hotly debated on SEO forums. I agree with you that it might not get you penalized, but having Google ignore your H1 tag is still a bit sad, because it still is one of the many ranking factors (for now). So it would be nice to benefit from whatever little beneficial effect a properly used H1 tag has. I am surprised that the default template is lacking a H1 tag on the start page, which is why I opted for the slider to implement it. Maybe the home editor would be a better alternative.
