Breadcrumbs update: Structured data & seo boost

Has anyone worked on Breadcrumbs? 

 

What i am trying to accomblish in order to take advantage of it on seo is:

 

a. use headings (h2,h3,h4,h5 ) on each link {seo boost}

b. make all links linkable (even for last one to link on current page )

c. add microdata [ https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/185417 ] 

 

Any help on that ? I am working on breadcrumb.tpl but i am not rearlly sure i understand how the loop works.
