What I'm trying to do applies to desktop only.

I want to make the grey bar 100% width, so upon making the change in code only the grey bar width will change. The location of the text won't change and the width of the dropdown won't change.

When I use the above code previously mentioned

By Vika it does work but it means all the text in the top navigation moves to the left and the dropdown goes full 100% width too.
