Naldinho
I was wondering if it is possible to do a clean install of the current PrestaShop 1.6.x.x and import customers and orders from a 1.5.6.x store but not the products or anything else?
NemoPS
No, orders use product ids, so you need them if you don't want everything to crash
bellini13
and products need to exist in categories, and customers/orders need addresses, and the carriers that were used... the point being, there are many database relationships that exist, and you cannot simply attempt to migrate only a handful of records
El Patron
what you want to accomplish is not detailed in existing PrestaShop documentation. so to hopefully answer your 'wondering', no unless you are an advanced user.
Naldinho
Thanks I assumed that orders were stored as relying on other data but figure maybe a small chance they were stored as completely self-contained and complete. I figured out a solution that doesn't need this now but good to know for the future.

I have already imported category, product and customers from PS 1.5 using CSV. with you experience, product customers, you could probably also do orders, but if the product/cust id's (and possibly other db id's) changed it will be more difficult. Naldinho
The question I would have is why go this route? I considered it because all my products need to be redone from scratch so I thought it was easier but if you are just trying to replicate a 1.6 database using data extracted from a 1.5 database why not just do a traditional upgrade? El Patron
I have new theme and want to setup in fresh PS. old ps have many bug.so.. sorry, that is not much of an explanation, if you create a test shop from production you can see how it goes. that is the recommended path way to new versions.
