panaxea
Hello, I am new to PS and I've been working on a local installation (MAMP + PS 1.6) to create my shop. I now uploaded the shop to Bluehost using the steps given in several forum posts, specifically from here: http://blog.premium-templates.eu/how-to-move-prestashop-from-localhost-to-domain-or-vice-versa I have copied the prestashop folder to a folder public_html/pruebas and I have changed the Base URI to reflect that (/pruebas/prestashop/) However, I have an odd problem. I am able to login to the back office and I can see all the uploaded products and categories and images etc, but NOT the shop front office! I get a 404 error with the bluehost 404 error html. Is there any other setting I need to change? Could the problem arise from using a different theme? How can I turn on debugging and where can I find the log file? thanks in advance Sang Edited July 22, 2014 by panaxea (see edit history)
NemoPS
You can check out my video too http://nemops.com/prestashop-migration-local-live/#.U892QPna6r0 As you can see I get 404 in the end, because of friendly urls. Make sure you erase your htaccess
panaxea
Hello Nemo, Yes, I had followed the same steps as in your video (great tutorials btw!) to upload my file before, and I had deleted .htaccess. I tried changing friendly URL but that didnt help. I realized whilst debugging that the collation on my local db and the server db were different. So I changed the collation locally, then created a new DB online and reimported. I also deleted all the files online and re-uploaded via FTP (2 hours!) At first things seemed to be a lot worse because I got a 404 error even for the back office page! But I cleared caches and deleted the .htaccess file and it seems to be working fine now. I am not exactly sure what solved the problem, but it seems like it has been resolved. Thanks for your time!
