Allow US zip codes (XXXXX and XXXXX-XXXX)

Recommended Posts

Hello

We use PS 1.5.6.2

We have an issue with US zip codes. Prestashop only allows this format: XXXXX
However for many years some US zip codes have this format: XXXXX-XXXX, but prestashop does not allow this.

Is there a way to have prestashop accept BOTH these formats (XXXXX and XXXXX-XXXX)?

Thank you for your link.

However if I do what is stated there, then the usual US zip code format (XXXXX) is no longer accepted.

Would be nice to have PS allow two zip code formats for a country, as this is a reality in the US, both xxxxx and xxxxx-xxxx are valid zip formats in the US.

I certainly agree with your point.

I suggest first opening up a feature request here: http://forge.prestashop.com/

if you could post link to the open forge feature request here others can follow/comment/and vote up.

At this time I do not know of a way to support both formats without core modification.  If I  run across anything I'll post it here.

Thanks again for your suggestion.

True, people report that that workaround/override will not work in PS 1.5 :-(

It is really strange that PS does not come up with a quick solution for this. I think it MUST be possible somehow to remove validation or simply make two formats possible.

Frustrating :-)

did you follow this advice?  i.e. feature request

if I had time (read that I'm to old and lack energy), I could retrofit that code...it's possible you get a youngin via job offers to implement in your version, should be pretty inexpensive.

I have now posted the issue og Forge:

http://forge.prestashop.com/browse/PSCFV-12411

Another one has posted something similar to this issue, but no solution has been offered.

El Patron, what would it take to get you to help me out with this issue?

as  suggested you could easily get young person to create this for you in job offers, using the example code mentioned earlier.  Have them create on their test shop matching your version and send you files to upload (after first backing up yours).

I will do it for 1,000,000  euros, I know that sounds like a lot but I only need one contract like that..then I can raise many more goats in the  Andes. :)

review this post...

http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/92913-work-around-version-14-validating-multiple-postal-zip-code-formats/?p=685292

note this is probably an older version of ps than yours but someone went through the trouble to make it possible. :)

El Patron,

That was one of my earlier posts and request PSCV-6672 was posted on the forge on 23 July 2013 for this capability in version 1.5.  Unfortunately, nothing has been done with the request.  The work around solution for PS 1.4 does not work in PS 1.5.
