jon active
How do folx we haven't upgraded our site since 1.4.3 after major hassle with a previous upgrade. We now have an issue with the site sometimes using massive amounts of "resources". Sometimes up to 6gb! So we're thinking this maybe due to something that has been fixed in more recent versions? Can we upgrade from 1.4.3. directly to 1.6? Or do we need to go though each version step by step? Sorry if these questions are basic but I'm not confident with this stuff and the website has too much work on it to risk losing! cheers Jon
El Patron
I found upgrading 1.4 that going to 1.4.1.11 first and then to 1.6 worked. Note: 1.6.0.9 is in test, and I suggest waiting for the next release before upgrading.
jon active
Gracias El Patron, but; if we are already at 1.4.3 is that not ahead of 1.4.1.11 and hence ready to "jump" to 1.6? We have no time to wait as the spikes in resource usage are making our server annoyed and crashing our site! The suggestion is that there's an issue with the shopping cart. Would jumping to another upgrade level help? cheers Jon
El Patron
what I meant is I 'always' have an issue upgrading a 1.4 directly to 1.6. so what I would do is 1.4.3 to 1.4.11 then 1.4.11 to 1.6.(current) follow this guide, don't skip anything http://doc.prestashop.com/display/PS16/Updating+PrestaShop and 1.4 is pretty fast and light weight compared to 1.5+ as the code became heavier with additional features. 1.6 is pretty nice because of boot strap framework. personally if you are having 'issues' with 1.4, it would be a good idea to resolve or at least have exact idea of issue this way you are not assuming an upgrade is going to resolve. (this would be best addressed in new post)
