Module request: transporation costs calculated per manufacturer

Hello everybody.

We are under PS 1.6.0.8 and we operate in drop shipping, which basically means we do not stock products, so customers can have in the same cart items from different vendors (manufacturers assigned in each product's page) and then we would need to calculate shipping costs based on each manufacturer.

 

We found useful this addon http://addons.prestashop.com/en/shipping-logistics-delivery-prestashop-modules/8827-dimensional-weight.html also for dimensional weight calculation but unfortunately the developer has no time now to add the functionality we need.

 

In practice, for each cart, in case it includes items from different manufacturers we should:

1 - automatically calculate the total weight for each manufacturer (sum of the weights of individual products sold by him), and the total dimension (sum of the dimensions of individual products sold by him) for each manufacturer;

2 - compare the total weight and dimensional weight for the manufacturer to apply the real rate of the carrier;

3 - sum the transport costs of individual producers to obtain the total cost of transport.

 

This would be perfect.

But, an easier version and hopefully much cheaper for us would be:

1 - automatically calculate the total weight for each manufacturer (sum of the weights of individual products sold by him),

2 - sum the transport costs of individual manufacturers to obtain the total cost of transport.

Following the questions I received, some more useful details.

Basically, we don't need neither want to setup more carriers but the ones in PS default section along with their zones and weight fees. Then in products, again as PS default, we already set the available carriers for each of them and this new module should "simply" add the dimensional weight feature, compare with standard weight, calculate the heavier and assign transportation costs to each product in the shopping cart.
After that, it should sum those weights per manufacturer (manufacturer also has been associated already in each product page as of PS default) and then sum manufacturers' total costs to obtain the grand transportation cost.

I found the best solution for me using an existing plugin. Being new in this community I don't know if I am allowed to mention companies/plugins here, guess not.

This was a request for a paid job, this means development of a non existent module/feature. Seems user opted for to use a already existing module.
