Import errors out..WHY?

Recommended Posts

This program is killing me. Why do I get 500 server errors after 20 minutes of trying to import only 300 records? Is this normal to force us to buy an expensive import module?

I am on v 1.6.0.6 with memory limit of 512mb and execution time of -1 unlimited seconds that I changed in the php file.

Why is this thing so difficult to work with?

Ok even if I don't get an answer it was good to vent.

Thanks

How long does the import process before you get the error? Also, if will actually run til your execution limit even if it errors out. You can test this by refreshing the products page in the back office after it errors out. Normally it will error out after 10 minutes, that is how long a browser will sit on the page with it loading.

Thank you for your response.

I can see products trickling in even after I deleted a bunch so I could start over.

But I just went and changed my settings back to the default. I really think it has to do with the META Description field it seems that and the Feature field are very picky about certain characters. So I will try again with standard settings and see what happens.

I still do not get why I am getting the 500 error that says there was a server hiccup in the first place. Is this a bug?

It also does not give me the red error or the yellow warning any more after an import.

I have never had this issue with any other cart program.

Well it looks like the issue was the Image URL's. I uploaded my images to a directory on the Prestashop server and changed the URL and BAM! It works with no 500 error. The images were previously hosted on the manufacturers website.
