Modules and Bank Deposit

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am looking to use Prestashop for a online store, however I have a couple of questions.
Are modules similar to contributions in other online store solutions? Is there a community contribution of these, or only by the authors?
Also, since I am in New Zealand, I will need a bank deposit option for payment, is there an option or module for this?

Thankyou.

Thanks for your reply.
The payment option is bank deposit or direct credit from a bank account.
It's a common form of payment for auctions and online shopping in New Zealand. It's a transfer between bank accounts.

I would provide information like this for a customer wishing to use bank deposit:

Account Name: Test Shop
Account Number: 12-1234-1234567-00
Bank: Test Bank

Ok. What kind of link? To an online store with bank deposit/direct credit payment in use?

Now I see what you mean.
this is in fact a form which would need to be processed through a secure server!

ie.
Do you want to accept Bank Transfer & Deposits?
if so you would you require an option for both on the payment page?

payment amount (this would either be the full cart total)
or
payment deposit (will this be something like 10% is required?)

Account Holder:
Account Number:
Sort Code:
Branch Name:
Account Type:
Branch Code:

you would then recieve payment notification via prestashop with a secure admin link to their account details.
is this the kind of process you require

Yep, that's the kind of process I was looking at.

All that happens is that when the customer chooses the bank deposit option, they are given the details of the stores bank account, and then they make a deposit via internet banking or their local physical address bank with a reference number given by the store. The store then identifies the deposit when it comes through by the reference number.

A bank transfer and bank deposit or direct debit are the same thing as far as I understand.

I don't think it would require security more so than say a credit card purchase.

Easier option please send me a PM
Maybe a visual for this form or just a simple html form to go through the process.

Please include the exact fields you require including names of these fields.
Then with all this information I will see what options you have available to make this work within a Prestashop Payment Module ;-)

Greetings.
Just want to wave a 'me too' flag on this.
I'm also from New Zealand. My [spam-filter] and I have a small home business we're just cranking up at the moment, and our current website doesn't provide the functionality we need - something very much like PrestaShop.

Having had a quick look around I'm quite keen to see about setting up our own PrestaShop site - just waiting for my new server to be fully commissioned so that I have php5 (currently only running 4) and will then be diving in with both feet.

I do concur that in NZ direct transfer to bank accounts is a commonly used payment method as it is freely available through most major banks and is generally a no-cost alternative for within-NZ payment.

I would envisage what is actually necessary is a 'holding pen' for transactions where 'Internet Banking Transfer' or 'Funds Transfer' (or even 'Direct Deposit', where someone walks into your bank with a deposit slip) purchases can be 'held'.

I would also presume then that the vendor checks their statement daily (funds between banks usually clear overnight) and when a transaction is seen with a specified reference code, the transaction is confirmed and the goods shipped. (Thats how I see it anycase).
There's also 'automagic' versions of same which the Banks can support via direct-internet-interface, I believe packages such as MYOB and Quicken can do this. Not sure about other web-based tools..

The catch of course is that there hasnt been an electronic exchange of funds; the payment is not 'real time' it is deferred and there's a manual process for checking that it has been made (and made correctly with enough funds, etc).

At the moment we are using a very bare-bones Paypal interface which is fine if people want to use VISA or MasterCard, but there's an overhead on these and not everyone has a Credit Card, so graceful support for direct payments is very much desired.

Have seen some other threads on the subject and it appears theres some hacking going on, but an officially supported module would be perfect.

Will be watching for news on this one. I'm new to this space and im not much of a hacker myself so big kudos for making an Open source package look this good, and at the same time appear to be quite effective.

Cheers
