I would to create a duplicate store without using the same database. I created the new store and imported the database. Once I did that I was logged out because my user does not exist in previous database. It will not let me login to the admin panel even with the credentials from my original store. Is there a way for me just to export the catalog / images and import to a fresh store?

Thanks in advance

hello

you mean that you installed prestashop (so you have own emaill and password) and then replaced its (prestashop's) database with other database?

I followed the instructions when it says to drop the new database, then import the old database. This is what I did. The database I am replacing is empty from a fresh install of Prestashop.

I did an export of 1 store. Then an import into the new one. But It is not allowing me to login. Either with the new email or the old.

I found these instruction right in the back end of my prestashop store. It is in the DB Backup Tab under advanced preferences. This is exactly what it says to do.

How to restore a database backup in 10 easy steps
  1. Set "Enable Shop" to "No" in the "Maintenance" page under the "Preferences" menu.
  2. Download the backup from the list below or from your FTP server (in the folder "admin/backups").
  3. Check the backup integrity: Look for errors, incomplete file, etc... Be sure to verify all of your data.
  4. Please ask your hosting provider for "phpMyAdmin" access to your database.
  5. Connect to "phpMyAdmin" and select your current database.
  6. Unless you enabled the "Drop existing tables" option, you must delete all tables from your current database.
  7. At the top of the screen, please select the "Import" tab
  8. Click on the "Browse" button and select the backup file from your hard drive.
  9. Check the maximum filesize allowed (e.g. Max: 16MB)

If your backup file exceeds this limit, contact your hosting provider for assistence.

  10. Click on the "Go" button and please wait patiently for the import process to conclude. This may take several minutes.

Why should this not work?

So what is enough? If this isnt enough. I need to move a catalog over to a new store. Is there a way to do it or not?
