System Admin guide for 1.6 still valid?

Hi,

 

I was just looking at the System Admin guide for 1.6:  http://doc.prestashop.com/display/PS16/System+Administrator+Guide

 

 

Specifically the misc improvements section, and was wondering whether creating sub-domains for img, css, js, etc. was still valid?

 

I get quite a few errors when I make the changes below, it looks like a lot of the http requests have combined the original host url, with the specific url specified below.

 

http://root.host.com/http://sub.domain.com/<file>

 

 

 

The created sub-domains work as expected when I browse to them directly, just not from FO.

Misc. improvements

If possible, split your static elements between different domains and sub-domains, in order to get parallel HTTP connections. To put that in place, open the /config/defines.inc.php file and add these lines (adapted to your needs):
