csv import - subcategory and image url problem

Recommended Posts

hi,

anyone succeded with defining subcategory in the csv file ?
i use v1.2.5 but i can only set the subcats after i got the files in the category and them one by one checking the approppriate subcategory.. to put them in the right place.. is there really no other way?:(

another problem is that image files don't seem to import either.. i give the correct url to the image..but there is no image after the import.. should i upload them somewhere?.. or what needs to be done?

thank for your help and have a nice day!
zito

When you fill the field in your csv for categories you need to specify the category id and not the name of the category. You can find the id in your catalog area of the admin.

You need to find out what version of php your server is using as some of the new versions dont work for image uploading, particularly 5.2.9 and 5.2.10.

jhnstcks: hey! Thank you very much for the solution it works perfectly now!!
have a nice day:)

noel: now i think it works if u use a separate csv for defining subcats and another one for the products
so 1st make a subcats csv, upload it at import, and then at Select which entity to import: roll to"categories"
now u have your subcategories
after that with the appropriate subcat ids in ur product csv file .. upload it and at Select which entity to import: select "products" and select the appropriate product csv file and import that..
